Los Angeles Draft Al Gore Campaign

While Al Gore is in the Bay Area this week giving his presentations at the Flint Center in Cupertino, and appearing at a Barbara Boxer Fundraiser, Al's volunteers are busy at work throughout California. On Monday, October 8th, volunteers were allowed to pick up the Nominating Petitions to get Al Gore on the Democratic Primary Ballot in February.

In the meantime, the articles online calling Al Gore the favorite for the Nobel Peace Prize multiply by the day.

This November 2007 VANITY FAIR article called "White House Civil War" by Sally Bedell Smith, is a very concise description of the Clinton/Gore relationship from before Bill's Inaugeration to the period when Hillary was running for the New York Senate, and Vice-President Al Gore was running for President in 2000.

There are so many of us across the United States, and as evidenced by blogs on the algore.org site, throughout the world, who want to see Vice -President Al Gore announce that he will be running for President in 2008.

Al Gore won the EMMY last night. Tonight, he was on "The Tonight Show". While he was discussing Current.tv, and Current.com, he seemed to be enjoying himself.
I think that Al, considering his up coming tour dates, is posing for the announcement to run.
Jay Leno even posed a question to Al like: "I think you have something to announce"?
I am sure that is a set up for the same question that we are all asking:
"When, Vice-President Gore, will you announce that you will run for re-election"?

Last Saturday, I attended my first California 4 Gore meeting. I would guess that there were at least 50 people present just for a Los Angeles meeting. Mother Nature brought us a beautiful environment, our host was welcoming, and our organizer strong and clear.
Today I attended a meeting of the Valley West Democrats in the San Fernando Valley. I was excited to meet new Democrats and I was looking forward to meeting my Congressman, Henry Waxman.

In the August 27th, 2007, TIME magazine, there was an article on Leonardo Dicaprio's "The 11th Hour". I got an email about this movie from algore.com this week. TIME's article questioned why DiCaprio had not endorsed a presidential candidate for 2008.
"Or perhaps he's withholding the coveted DiCaprio endorsement until the man he considers "a great genius of our time", Al Gore, enters the race.

Well, as I was trying to see where the money was going in the 2008 Election, I happened upon this concept. Betting is actually a better predictor of a Presidential outcome than the polls. So if campaign contributions by big donors are not enough to make you sick about election outcomes, what about the idea that people make money on the outcome.

I guess we all know that people bet on all kinds of things in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. I guess it was just a bit of a shock to see that betting on an election is not something done illegally with a "bookie".

Please! What will it take for the Democrats to lose the Presidential Election in 2008 –voter fatigue and Karl Rove.

We all rejoiced when Karl announced that he was leaving the White House at the end of this month. Did you think that he was leaving because he was really an embarrassment to George Bush? Remember, this is "Bush's brain".

So while the Democrats are having a debate on almost a weekly basis – debates that most Americans without cable access don't even know about, the Republicans are just standing by and watching the Democrats kill each other off with "friendly fire".

The Dow Jones Industrial average fell again today by over 170 points; it is down about 1000 points in less than one month. Announcements of possible lower earnings by Walmart and Home Depot affected the overall market yesterday.

On, Tuesday, August 7th, the Democrats had their debates in Chicago. Yet I only heard one candidate get an environmental question which was about requiring businesses to insulate their buildings to reduce energy. Hillary caught the question, but she didn't really answer it. She just said that she had some kind of green plan.

Al, where are you? We know that you have been in Singapore. We know that you said that you may reenter politics someday. But you need to enter the race now!

I would like to suggest to all my fellow 'Goristas' that whenever we find ourselves in a situation where the subject of the candidates for the Presidency is being discussed, we use the word INTEGRITY to describe what Al is all about.
This is a man who has exhibited and maintained his integrity his whole political career.
Can any of the ones running in either party even begin to approach Al's level of integrity?
They're a narcissistic,opportunistic lot without the 'I' word; Heaven help us if any of them were to get elected.

Should Al decide to get in, I believe it could be sometime between late September and mid October; to wait any longer would be too risky, given the front loading of the Primaries next year.
He would probably consult and coordinate with some of his closest advisors before any announcement.
People like Roy Neal in Nashville,Peter Knight in D.C., and Elaine Karmack in Boston.
I would keep an eye and an ear out for what these folks might be up to the next month or two, as this might give us an idea which way the chips will fall.
It's worth a try,anyway.

I watched the Democratic AFL-CIO debate held in Chicago last night. Overall, it was a good debate, I just think we don't learn that much about the candidates in the debate format. All we really learn about them is who is the best debater or orator.

We hear it everyday – it's time for a Woman President, it's time for a Black President, it's time for a Latino President, it's time for a Mormon President.

None of those issues above concern me. What I am interested in is a President with INTEGRITY and who has the capability to understand complex issues.

The latest warning that reached our ears was the recall by Fisher Price of almost a million toys that are geared to preschool age children. Recently, the FDA said that paints on the toys contain unsafe levels of lead. The toys being recalled were manufactured in China.

On July 16th, 2007, an earthquake of a magnitude 6.8 rocked Kashiwazaki, Japan. "Radioactive material leaked undetected for days at an earthquake-battered nuclear power plant even as the utility was assuring the public that the damage posed no danger to those outside the site, company executives acknowledged yesterday." GORE/ MOORE 2008

I know that it would never happen. But one thing that you can say about both Authors/ Oscar winners – they both inspire us.

Who really reads political books? If you have seen a Michael Moore or Al Gore movie, if you have read a book by Al Franken, Moore, or Gore, you are probably a Democrat. (That sounds like a Redneck joke: "You are probably a Democrat if you have read Franken, Moore, or Gore"

Al Gore is trying to educate the average American about the global environmental crises and the Bush Administration’s deceptions and incompetent domestic and foreign policies. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of people are getting or understanding the message.
A while back I was discussing my involvement in politics and the "DRAFT AL GORE" movement with a close friend by EMAIL. Just having the ability to email and Internet access are afforded less than half of Americans in their homes according to Professor Lutz Erbring of the Free University of Berlin.

WHY WE SHOULD ELECT AL GORE 2008!

In November 2000, I watched the Election Coverage well into the night. I was amazed to hear the Election called for Gore and then later for Bush. It was then that I realized that our votes are not what actually elect a President. While I did know about the Electoral College system, I did not realize how it would actually fail us as a Nation. My naiveté about the political process had actually made me believe that each of our votes counts.

Howard Dean will be in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, June 13, 2007. This event is open to all Democrats at two price levels: $50/person and $500/person. The money is for the Democratic Committee which will, of course, contribute to the winner of the Democratic primary.

I just spoke to an organizer of this event in Washington, D.C. She said that there will be many people representing all of the Presidential hopefuls there. I would like to see a strong show of people there for Al Gore.

I did a search and found this article I read back in May. It offers a brilliant analysis on Candidate Gore, and it's amazing how the article becomes more relevant as the Presidential Campaigns heat-up.

It would be a severe disservice to our country should Gore decide not to run. But you can hardly blame the guy for not wanting to. After all, even if we win again, who's to say that we have the back-bone to make it count?
